The Viswema route is easier, with a motorable road covering the first 8 km, while the Zakhama route is steeper and more challenging. The nearest airport and railway station are in Dimapur, about 75 km from Kohima.

Dzukou Valley is famous for its bamboo grasslands and the rare Dzukou Lily, found only in this region. During the monsoon season (June–September), the valley transforms into a colorful wonderland, with blooming rhododendrons, euphorbias, aconitums, and wildflowers covering the landscape. The Dzukou River, meandering through the valley, enhances its tranquility.

Trekking Experience

Trekking to Dzukou Valley is moderate to challenging, taking 4–6 hours depending on the route. The Viswema trail offers a mix of road and trekking, while the Zakhama trail is a direct but steep climb through dense forests.

Upon reaching the valley, trekkers can stay at the Dzukou Valley Guest House, which provides basic accommodation. Many prefer to camp under the stars near the river, making the experience even more magical.
