Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati and Sightseeing
Morning:
Arrive at Guwahati, the gateway to Assam.
Check in to your hotel and freshen up.
Start your day with a visit to the Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most significant Shakti Peethas. Located on Nilachal Hill, the temple also offers panoramic views of the Brahmaputra River.
Afternoon:
Head to the Assam State Museum, which showcases the cultural heritage of Assam through artifacts, sculptures, and paintings.
Visit the Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. Take a short ferry ride to the island.
Evening:
Enjoy a sunset river cruise on the Brahmaputra River, where you can relax and take in the serene beauty of the surroundings.
Stroll through Pan Bazaar and shop for Assamese silk, tea, and handicrafts.
Overnight Stay: Guwahati.
Day 2: Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park
Morning:
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga National Park (approx. 4-5 hours).
Check in to your hotel or resort and enjoy some leisure time.
Afternoon:
Explore the park on a jeep safari in the Central or Western Range. Kaziranga is home to the world-famous one-horned rhinoceros, along with elephants, tigers, and exotic bird species.
Visit the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park, which also features traditional Assamese dance performances and handicrafts.
Evening:
Relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of Kaziranga.
Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Day 3: Kaziranga Safari and Transfer to Majuli Island
Early Morning:
Go for an elephant safari in Kaziranga to experience the park's flora and fauna up close. This is the best time to spot wildlife amidst the misty grasslands.
Mid-Morning:
After breakfast, drive to Jorhat (approx. 3-4 hours) and take a ferry to Majuli Island, the largest river island in the world.
Afternoon:
Explore the island’s Vaishnavite monasteries (Satras), such as Garmur Satra and Auniati Satra, which are centers of art, culture, and spirituality.
Witness traditional mask-making at local workshops and interact with the Mishing tribal community to learn about their way of life.
Evening:
Enjoy the serene ambiance of Majuli, surrounded by lush greenery and the Brahmaputra River.
Overnight stay in Majuli.
Day 4: Majuli to Guwahati (Departure)
Morning:
After breakfast, take the ferry back to Jorhat and begin your journey back to Guwahati (approx. 6-7 hours by road).
If time permits, stop at the Bordowa Satra, the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva, the great saint-reformer of Assam.
Afternoon:
Arrive in Guwahati. Depending on your departure time, you can visit the Navagraha Temple or shop for Assamese souvenirs like silk sarees and tea.
Evening:
Transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
Best Time to Visit:
The ideal time to visit Assam is from October to April, when the weather is pleasant for wildlife safaris and cultural tours.
