Fire Creek Botanical Winery-Holgate
Just an hour and a half outside of Sydney, If you are looking for an in-depth wine discovery then look no further than Fires Creek Botanical winery where you can experience an intimate and personalised behind-the-scenes tour with the wine-maker themselves. You can sample all the current vintage wines as you tour through the venue and see how the wines are made. Each wine sample will be in a different location on the property amongst the rich overgrowth where fruit is grown lovingly.
You will be taken into the Vat room where the wines are produced and through the organic gardens orchards and vines with a discussion of the source of inspiration and method of the winemaking. With organic growing tips and tricks to top it off, you will want to taste something exquisite and unique. Then look no further than the hand-made delectable chocolates paired with Four Fires creek Botanical wines, served in crystal glasses on a very nice tasting board in the gardens in a location of your choice. It's a very romantic spot and perfect for couples or friends to enjoy in small groups.
Petersons Wines of Distinction-Hunter Valley
Just an hour and ten minutes from the Fires Creek Botanical winery, is one of the Hunter Valley's most beautiful locations for a wine tour, the Petersons wines, which have been at the forefront of the wine industry in the Hunter Valley since 1971; established by Colin Peterson. Since the first vintage in 1981, the winery has been recognised for producing a high level of premium and award-winning wines which continues today as well. By the mid 1960’s, thirty acres of vines had been planted consisting of Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet, Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir and then in the early 80’s, the decision was made to produce two wines Chardonnay and Shiraz.
The sparkling wines are one thing to try as this is one of the only wineries that specialise in sparkling wines and a range of forty different types. Try the red rose or white, both are affordable and delicious.
The dessert wines are also something not to miss, there is nothing more delicious than the sweet treat after a hearty dinner including sparkling botrytis, Semillon, or Muscat wine. The Semillon lustrous gold colour is soaked in sweet honey suckle with a tint of blossom flavour as well as marmalade and pineapple as an aftertaste. You can also match this flavour with a perfect local blue cheese or sharp cheddar. The Muscat, on the other hand, is a rich and smooth texture, blending together fruit pudding brandy and toffee flavours.
You can also add to this unique experience at the oyster bar, which can be found on the deck at weekends. Here guests can enjoy the selection of delicious oysters, cheese, antipasto, and sparkling wine while soaking up the views all around them.
Audrey Wilkinson Winery-Hunter Valley
If you want to make the day special with two winery visits in one day then look no further than the splendid Audrey Wilkinson winery in the Hunter Valley, just a mere fifteen minutes away from the Petersons Wines of Distinction. This beautiful winery, which complements the valley well, began in 1866 with the Wilkinson family after they acquired the site for the vineyard and it began to steam in just before the turn of the next century.
Audrey helped them develop leading technology such as cement fermenters and steam-powered crushers. It was in 1993 that the beginning of their legacy began as they collected many awards. In 2006, the Museum Semillon, was Audrey Wilkinson’s most-awarded wine, taking home an amazing 12 trophies and 20 gold awards.
The cellar door is located atop a foothill of the broken-back mountain ranges and is a must-see site with stunning 360-degree views. You can have a range of experiences when you attend. There is the standard tasting experience for 45 minutes, the premium experience with seated wine tasting. The heritage cellar door experience where you can museum and taste a series of aged wines or even try the twilight experience after hours when the sun goes down, a 50-minute experience you just can't miss for yourself, your loved ones, and friends.
Dryridge Estate-Blue Mountains
Three and a half hours from the Audrey Wilkinson Winery estate is where you can spend the next couple of days enjoying the beauty of the Megalong valley, hidden away in the heart of the Blue mountains. Nestled in the magnificent Megalkong valley and surrounded by sandstone escarpments the Dryridge estate is just 20 minutes from Blackheath, one the central towns along the Blue Mountains climb. The drive itself is stunning winding its way around the rainforest drops and roads leading into the rich valley itself filled with the blue hues of the surrounding mountains and rolling green hills.
The winery is just two hours from Sydney. Here you can visit the cellar food and enjoy delicious wines cheese platters and some of the best scenery on offer. The peace and serenity is brilliant.
When you try the menu on your visit you will enjoy something very exquisite. Try the cheeseboard including three beautiful kinds of cheese, quince pasts, and olives, all served with local fresh bread. There is also the choice of a cheese and charcuterie board or even the ploughman’s lunch platters with cheese cold meats and delicious accompaniments like pickles olives and locally made fresh bread.

Megalong creek estate-Blue Mountains
The Megalong Valley is home to some of the most beautiful wineries situated on rich land and deserves a couple of days away to enjoy the beauty it has on offer for all. Another winery to visit is the Megalong Creek estate. The mission of this beautiful winery is to create a splendid and unique Blue Mountains experience with a single vineyard and wines for people to enjoy whilst taking in the magnificent views. The estate was established in 2002 by their family and is run as a boutique vineyard with grapes that are hand-picked and transported to Mudgee for winemaking.
It is an award-winning estate and is highly regarded for its wine which includes Viognier, Pinot Grigio, and Pinot. The wines Pinot Grenache and Mourvedre were planted in 2018 and the range also includes sparkling, which is named Prozzanre, a lightly sparkled prosecco style wine and this is accompanied by a unique dessert style wine. The cellar door is also unique a re-purposed shipping container and barn with a built-in tasting bar and of course, splendid views of the Megalong valley.
