“Flowers are beautiful creations to behold”. Their colors are vibrant. Their scents are pleasantly sweet. Their beauty? Mesmerizing!
I have always been fascinated with flowers even at a very young age. Perhaps growing up in a neighborhood were several flowering plants were cultivated enticed me to be very fond of blooms. I can still recall all the names of the flowers that surrounds our house including those that bloom on a specific time of the day and those that have delicate fragrances. I have always like the scent of Sampaguita (Jasmine) which reminds me a lot of my mother. She love placing them on the altar at home.
I don’t think there could be a more delightful sight than gazing at blooming flowers. It’s like a breath of fresh air. It rejuvenates!

Growing up, I developed more appreciation for flowers. I also learned floral arrangements and had few opportunities to do floral arrangements for weddings and receptions in the past. However, I didn’t not continue down that path or consider it as a professional career. I took a different road and a different career, yet I remain passionate about flowers and continue to do arrangements occasionally but only less elaborate ones.
During gatherings with my family and friends, I love placing flowers on the table because it adds a more refined touch. I prefer fresh flowers on table settings and If I am home, I will usually just cut some leaves from our plants and use them as fillers. But If I don’t get a chance to buy fresh ones, I use any artificial flowers available. Flowers can surely make any corner of your home pretty and lively. You can practice creativity and think of other substitutes for vases or regular flower pots. I used kettles a couple of times.
Flowers don’t worry about how they are going to bloom. They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful.

One of my fondest memories in Bali is sitting at this table in Agung Rai Museum of Art and having a refreshing tea.
I noticed that the fresh cut flower was just placed on a small glass container, there were even no fillers added to cover the foam, and yet it still blends in and added beauty on the table.
I had my tea first and stayed for the tour for a more authentic Balinese adventure.

A visit to Maldives means to enjoy the sand, sky and azure seas. You can even swim with the fish. Then relax and unwind at the Spa. There is nothing quite the feel of natural flowers.

Getting lost in a place such as the Royal Botanical Gardens in, Peradeniya, Kandy, Sri Lanka is something I wouldn’t mind or be scared of but my guide was frantic when I wasn’t at the gate yet after two hours as we have agreed. He was about to report to security that I might have lost my way. It is absolutely impossible to have a full tour of the garden in two hours! I could actually wander around all day in the garden and never be bored at all. There were a lot of trees, shrubs and flowers that were absolutely captivating.
May the flower reminds us why the rain was so necessary

Creativity & Imagination are endless
Having been blessed with the gift of creativity which I am extremely grateful of, I started incorporating flowers in many of my artwork.
A few years back, I was asked to design a booth for the Daisy Award activity. I took it as a challenge to both my creativity and resourcefulness. Instead of the usual booth, I utilized a trolley and transformed it similar to a flower cart.
I made a few paper daisies, placed them loosely on a vase and created flower balloons as additional decorations.
My first few paper daisy flowers were fairly successful so I continued experimenting on paper roses. Soon enough I was able to put together a bouquet and made tiny flower pots too.
If we constantly keep nurturing our creative spirit and work on things that stimulates our imagination, we can create a lot of pretty and fun floral-inspired crafts!
Repurpose craft ideas: (1) Two empty coffee bottles glued together, a tiny decorative bottle was placed inside the top bottle and bottom one was filled with potpourri, an empty candy tin on top serves as a flower vase. (2) A tall flower was placed inside an old glass lab cylinder, the base (not seen) was made of an old coaster holder.
I certainly am not a great artist and have to hone my skills. My artwork are not perfect but every moment I am able to do basic drawings and paintings, paper crafts, capture photos and come up with repurpose crafts which were all inspired by flowers, an extraordinary joy fills my heart.
Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child, before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind. The real you is loving, joyful, and free. The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun!
