Knock-Knock
A coat drenched,
In a sea of turmoil
The gloves raw and pink;
A clatter, clatter of the mind-
Think, think, think
Pushing teacups off the brink
Shatter!
A gasp of air;
Turning to whistles through a pipe;
A shirt soaked,
A thermostat broken;
Shiver shiver- frozen with grief
A volcanic core- rumble rumble enraged
A once tightly embroidered hat,
Coming loosely undone;
Clear windows now fogged opaque,
A door sealed shut-
The relentless hum of the TV, fridge and washing machine;
Replaced by a silence so obscene;
If the doorbell was unanswered;
To the ever familiar house-
Would you-
remain calm?
