There is a fuss over the Paris Olympics poster without the French flag “denying the country”
When the Christian cross and French flag were omitted from the 2024 Paris Olympics poster, far-right figures began to protest.
According to AFP on the 6th (local time), the Paris Olympic Organizing Committee released the official poster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The poster depicted iconic buildings in Paris, but the French flag was not visible. Additionally, the cross on the roof of the Les Invalides Military Museum was removed.
French conservatives protested against this, calling it ‘erasing France’. François-Xavier Bellamy, a member of the right-wing European People's Party (EPP), pointed out that "(the producer) was prepared to deny France" and "even distorted reality to erase history." 스포츠 토토사이트
Marion Maréchal Le Pen, a member of the French far-right party Reconquete, posted on her social media, “If we hide who we are, why are we hosting the Olympics in France?”
The poster is an imaginary map drawn by French illustrator Hugo Gatoni, featuring people enjoying 54 Olympic and Paralympic sports around major French landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower. The city surrounded by the sea was expressed in pink and purple, creating a dreamy atmosphere.
As the noise grew, Gatoni said, “I drew the building as it came to my mind, without any ulterior motive.”
The Olympic organizing committee also explained, “We did not make the buildings in the work identical to the original, but made them recognizable at a glance,” adding, “It is a light interpretation of the recreated city.” He added, “Nothing should be subject to political interpretation.” 슬롯
